Hormone Health Expert Dr Louise Newson Heading to Leeds with UK Theatre Tour

One of the UK’s leading experts in hormone health is set to bring her groundbreaking new theatre tour to Leeds’ City Varieties Music Hall on 19 May, tackling the myths, misinformation and longstanding medical inequalities surrounding women’s hormones and healthcare.

Dr Louise Newson , physician, menopause specialist and founder of the free Balance app, which has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times , is on a major UK-wide tour designed to educate audiences about the science, history and real-life impact of hormones on women’s health.

Her show, Breaking the Cycle: The Power of Hormones, builds on the success of her acclaimed 2024 theatre tour and takes an honest, unfiltered look at how hormonal changes — including progesterone, estradiol and testosterone — can affect both physical and mental wellbeing. The production also explores the long history of women’s health concerns being overlooked or dismissed within healthcare systems.

Throughout the evening, Dr Louise will challenge long-held misconceptions around hormones, menopause, contraception and mental health, while sharing the hidden history behind hormone treatments and exposing decades of medical misogyny.

Designed to inform and empower audiences of all ages, the show will tackle topics ranging from PMS and contraception to perimenopause, menopause, HRT, testosterone and conditions such as PMDD and PCOS.

Launching back in April, the 38-date UK tour has visited cities including Manchester, Bristol, Darlington, Worcester, Winchester, Exeter and Swansea. Audiences can expect myth-busting discussions, real-life stories and an interactive Q&A session where attendees can ask questions directly to Dr Louise, who is also a No.1 Sunday Times bestselling author and host of the award-winning Dr Louise Newson Podcast.

Speaking about the tour, Dr Louise said:

“Women of all ages deserve better information, better support and better healthcare. I’m passionate about sharing evidence-based knowledge about the hormones that affect us throughout our lives, and I’m especially looking forward to the honest conversations we’ll have during the Q&A sessions.

“This is far more than a health talk — it’s a movement and a wake-up call. Whether it’s menopause, PMDD, contraception or PCOS, I want to help as many people as possible access information that could genuinely change their lives.”
