Leeds Dancers Unite to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Support with Sold-Out Shows

On Saturday 15th November 2025, The Dance Studio Leeds celebrated with two community shows at the Chroma-Q Theatre, Leeds City College Quarry Hill Campus, in aid of My Breast Cancer Support, supporting the charity in their mission to create a bridge between healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring that no one feels alone after hospital care ends.

The show featured over 260 community adult performers from across Leeds and Yorkshire in 35 different routines. With an eclectic display of dance styles showcased from Ballet, Bellydancing, Burlesque, Commercial, Jazz, Tap, Street, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Afro fusion and Contemporary to name a few, the day saw these community dancers come together to celebrate their hard work, showcase the diversity of dance in our city, and share their passion for dance.

“My Breast Cancer Support” are extremely proud of the collaboration with DSL who take positive action, to provide the community with fabulous vibes to improve mental and physical health.

It’s an inclusive space for all ages, genders and ethnicities, in a world where things are upside down.

A breast cancer diagnosis can lead to loss of hair, eyebrows, facing scars and the repetition of constant treatments, appointments and unwanted side effects. As a charity we pick up where our loved NHS leaves off. DSL continues our vision and fosters unfailing energy to make that difference and bridge the gap.

Funding is scarce! This money ensures that we can provide restorative Pilates and dance classes in Leeds. Exercise is proven to reduce the risk of recurrence, someone we all fear.

Many of us now have mobility issues after the fall out of chemotherapy and other treatment lines. Regaining movement and independence is manifested through music that takes us away from pain. For that we are eternally grateful, along with the friendships. No one is seen as different.  It’s an inclusive family. THANK YOU.  We want to help others have longer positive lives. Thank you.”

Sara Williamson, Chair and founder of My Breast Cancer Support West Yorkshire.

The event was a resounding success with both shows sold out, and although the final figure is yet to be confirmed, they are hopeful to have reached their target of £3500 for My Breast Cancer Support West Yorkshire. Donations to the charity can also be made via their Just Giving page.

“It was an incredible day and atmosphere and wonderful to be able to celebrate and share our love for dancing whilst also raising vital funds for such a fantastic charity. Dance is incredibly powerful for your physical and mental health and well being and it’s wonderful to be able to share this with the wider community.” Katie Geddes, Director and Founder of The Dance Studio Leeds.

If you fancy learning any of the dances seen at the show, The Dance Studio Leeds hosts weekly adult classes, well being and team events for corporates and local businesses, wedding dance tuition, and hen, birthday and community group workshops and celebrations. Newcomers are always welcome!
