Team members at a Thirsk care home have raised more than £700 after taking part in the Leeds Memory Walk organised by the Alzheimer’s Society.
On Sunday, 11th October the team from Sowerby House Care Home, owned by We Care Group, joined the 6km walk at Temple Newsam Estate to raise awareness of and funds for people affected by dementia.
The team has exceeded its original fundraising target of £175, and donations are still open to help raise even more for the charity.
Taking part in the Leeds Memory Walk was a fantastic opportunity for us to get together with others who know what it’s like to live with, care for, or support someone with dementia. It was a chance to raise awareness of this disease that has such a profound impact on those suffering, as well as their family and friends.
In total, eight of us from Sowerby House took part. We had a wonderful time and it’s been a real privilege to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society. We’d love to raise even more for this worthy cause, and would like to thank everyone who has donated so far.
