NormCyber to Host Free Cyber Crime Awareness Event for SMEs and Charities

18 February 2025 – NormCyber, the award-winning cyber and data risk management specialist, has today announced it will host an interactive Cyber Crime Awareness Event in partnership with the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Cyber Crime Unit on 20th February 2025.

The free event, which will take place at WM Morrison’s Head Office in Bradford, is designed to give small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), charities and non-profits in the region unique insights into the latest cyber crime tactics along with actionable advice to defend against evolving threats.

ccording to the UK Government’s 2024 Cyber Security Breaches Survey, half of businesses and a third of charities reported a cyber breach in the last 12 months, with recovery costing, on average, £1,205 per incident. With vast experience in preventing and resolving all types of cyber attacks, such as phishing and ransomware, Norm’s National Cyber Security Centre-accredited experts are well-placed to provide attendees with an attacker’s point-of-view of the threat landscape and pin-point key steps they can take to bolster their organisations’ cyber resilience.

During the half-day event, Norm’s cyber incident response experts will guide participants through a unique Cyber Escape Room Challenge, providing a safe space to rehearse and refine their cyber attack strategies against a realistic attack scenario. Participants will also benefit from free, police-led cyber tools and resources and enjoy networking opportunities with decision-makers and cyber security experts.

“Cyber crime is proliferating at an unprecedented rate, which rightly makes more and more organisations question if they are prepared for when – and not if – they become a target of an attack. Our event is designed to make this complex challenge clear,” said Chris Taylor, Principal Analyst, Incident Respone, at NormCyber.

“By joining forces with the Yorkshire & Humber Cyber Crime Unit, we’re providing an accessible cyber security masterclass to smaller businesses, who may not have the infrastructure in place to remedy large-scale attacks. It’s a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to test their cyber resilience in a risk-free environment and start laying the groundwork for implementing a proactive defence strategy in their daily business operations.”
