Yorkshire-born actor Jack Newhouse will be seen on the big screen as his new movie UNLICENSED screens at The Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds. The screening will have a Q&A with the filmmakers and networking afterwards.
UNLICENSED tells the story of a disgraced city broker named Danny Goode, played by writer/director Mark Hampton, who struggles to rebuild his life after a prison sentence and turns to an unlicensed boxing match for money. Jack plays Nicky Miller, the unbeaten prizefighter in the film. Nicky and Danny face off against each other in the spectacular boxing finale.
Jack spent his early years in Teeside, Leeds and Newcastle where he joined the National Youth Theatre. He later studied BA Honours in Acting and then at the Identity School of Acting in London.
For Jack, his upbringing in the region continues to support him creatively.
“My roots, my upbringing, and my journey as an actor are all connected to Yorkshire and the North East. it continues to inspire the kinds of stories I want to tell.”
Although Jack now lives in London, it was important to bring the film to Yorkshire:
“I’m always proud to showcase my roots and be amongst those that inspire me. Screening it in Yorkshire means celebrating my work with the community I’m from. Showcasing the film up north is a key step in continuing to grow the industry and talent from this region. I’m passionate to showcase work and future goals would be creating my own work that promotes the area.”
Jack has appeared the feature film Jackdaw and on television in Quarter Life (Amazon) and Criminal Record (AppleTV).
UNLICENSED will be previewing in several UK cities before it’s digital release on 17th November.
