The Matriarchal Economy brings together the voices of 20 women who have built businesses rooted in collaboration, community, authenticity and long-term sustainability-rather than hustle culture, burnout and constant competition.
The book launch takes place on Friday 9 October at Left Bank Leeds, where contributors will share their stories with business owners from across the region.
The project has been brought together by Yorkshire business owner and Connect Women in Biz founder, Corinna Nicol, whose community has grown to more than 2,500 female founders since launching in 2019.
Corinna said:
For so long weβve been told thereβs only one way to succeed in business-work harder, compete harder and sacrifice more. But thousands of women are quietly proving thereβs another way.
This book celebrates women who have built successful businesses through collaboration, relationships, kindness and community. We hope it gives other women permission to build businesses that are commercially successful without compromising their wellbeing or their values.
The launch comes at a time when increasing numbers of entrepreneurs are questioning traditional definitions of success and seeking more sustainable ways to grow their businesses.
Contributors include women from a range of industries, sharing honest stories of entrepreneurship, resilience, leadership and creating businesses that work alongside family life, health and personal values.
The launch event is open to the public and will include opportunities to meet the authors, hear about the inspiration behind the book and connect with fellow business owners from across Yorkshire.
