Leeds runner tackling 108-mile "Three Peaks" ultra-marathon for MND Association

On April 11, I will be running a continuous 108-mile ultramarathon to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. I am running in memory of my best friend’s mum, who sadly passed away from this disease late last year, and I am deeply inspired by the incredible legacy of Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield.

Starting in Horsforth, the route heads to the Yorkshire Three Peaks, summits all three (Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough), and returns to Horsforth in one single effort. This follows my "Lap of Leeds" 100km run last year, but pushes the distance and elevation significantly further to support the Yorkshire community affected by MND.

The Challenge:

  • Distance: 108 miles (approx. 174km) – equivalent to over four marathons back-to-back

  • The route: Horsforth - Ilkley - Skipton - Three Peaks – and back again!

  • The Connection: Inspired by Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow, and for my best friend whose mum passed away from MND last year.

  • Timing: Starts 08:00am April 11th; Finish approx. 11:00am April 12th at Hall Park, Horsforth.

  • Quote for publication: "A 108-mile ultra-marathon is a huge challenge, but it pales in comparison to what families face when they receive a diagnosis. They don't get to hit 'pause' or stop when they’re tired, so I won’t either. I’m running these 108 miles because they can’t, and because we owe it to the Leeds and Yorkshire community to keep fighting for a cure"— Andrew Richardson

  • Tracking: A link to track progress live will be made available on the day, and be published on the JustGiving page linked below.

  • Attached: Full press pack including high-res logos, expanded bio, and MND Association backgrounder.
